Nick Metcalfe - Group Chairman

Having completed his education in Business Studies Nick's first management position was as a Production Controller for a plastics foil manufacturing PLC where he made a considerable impression on the management at the age of 21. He was ear-marked at board level for a career path within the Aaronson Bros. PLC group, unfortunately the untimely death of his father at the age of 48 led Nick to join the family sales agency company in 1982 at the age of 23. This company was already very well established in supplying wholesale and mail order companies including Empire Stores, J D Williams, GUS, Grattan, Fine Art, Green Shield and Littlewoods, which gave Nick a good grounding in sourcing and procurement, and in particular a good understanding of the UK mail order market.

Nick subsequently became a director of a Stockport based pine manufacturing company and this was the foundation of his background in furniture. In 1986 he started importing furniture and housewares from Europe. In 1998 he established Mountrose Ltd as a leading distributor sourcing from the Far East and the rest of the World and this business has gone from strength to strength.

Over the past 6 years the business has diversified into the procurement and distribution of electrical and jewellery products and also packaging services adapting to the ever changing needs of customers. Nick is now chairman of the Mountrose Group which encompasses 10 companies around the world, stretching from the United Kingdom, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Australia.

Mark Chapman - Group Managing Director

Mark’s early career was spent as a Chartered Accountant and Auditor, gaining wide commercial experience across various organisations and industries. Having joined Mountrose as Finance Director in 2005, Mark became Managing Director in 2010, and now oversees all aspects of the business ensuring each part of the operation is effective in supporting our strategy for growth.

Away from work (occasionally!), Mark enjoys football and spending time with his young family.

Steve Walsh - Group Trading Director

Steve joined the team in 2010 having spent 20 years working in the retail industry, most notably in senior roles with two ‘Fastrack 100’ fastest growing UK companies, and has since been responsible for significant growth with our retail customers. Having begun his career in operational management, Steve then gained a wealth of experience in sourcing and procurement roles and now has overall responsibility for all Mountrose sourcing operations, ensuring our products are tailored to specific customer markets.

Heidi Sanderson - Sales & Marketing Director

Having joined the business in 2003 as an Account Manager, Heidi has been a key driver of our growth with Mail Order accounts, working closely with customers and factories alike on product design and development within both the Home and Garden categories. With a thorough understanding of our supply chain and keen eye for detail, Heidi works closely with all departments to ensure the smooth operation of her accounts.

Mike Dawber - Quality Assurance Director

Mike joined Mountrose in 2002 from a background of over 23 years in furniture manufacturing. With extensive knowledge of production techniques and quality control, Mike heads up the QC function for Mountrose both in the UK and our teams overseas, ensuring that all products meet all relevant standards and that our factories adhere to stringent quality standards.

Lee Dimond - Commercial Director

Lee has supplied a variety of products to the non-food retail sector, from Christmas Decorations, Home-wares to Luggage and is now clocking up 15 years in Furniture. His main role within the business is to develop products and manage relationships with key national accounts. Three young children keep Lee and his wife Debbie very busy, but he still finds time to fit in regular visits to watch his beloved Manchester City.

Jake Davis - Business Development Manager

Jake initially joined the team in 2010 to lead the Garden Life division but now also has responsibilities across our entire product portfolio. With over 25 years in retail and supply, covering retail planning, inventory, marketing, buying and sourcing Jake brings great experience to the business.
